Porpoloma umbrosum (Smith & Wall.) Singer Cap 5-10cm across, convex-flattened; dull gray-brown; dry, smooth, often cracking with age. Gills adnate, crowded, broad; gray bruising reddish. Stem 25-50 x 15-20mm, tapered at base; gray-brown. Flesh pale gray bruising reddish. Taste mealy, cucumber-like. Odor strong, mealy, cucumber-like. Spores ellipsoid, amyloid, 7-9 x 3-4ì. Deposit white. Habitat under conifers. Found widely distributed in North America. Season July-September. Edibility not known -avoid. |
